Know when, who and in which country invented the clock?

The clock used today was not invented in one go. Someone first made the hour hand and someone made the minute hand. Thus, the development of clocks in the world has taken place in several stages. When the clock was not invented, people used to find out the time on the basis of sunlight and the fluctuations of water.

When the clock was not invented, people used to estimate the time by looking at the direction of the sun. But in case of clouds in the sky, the matter would get stuck, so people invented the water clock, the credit for which goes to China where a person named "Su Sang" made the water clock.

However, about two thousand and twenty five years ago in ancient Greece, there used to be water-powered alarm clocks in which the bell would ring after a fixed time depending on the falling level of the water.

The credit for the invention of the clock goes to Pope Sylvester II who invented the clock in 996 AD. Clocks started being used in Europe in the second half of the 13th century. Apart from this, clocks were installed in the clock tower of Westminster, England in 1288.

The first watch like the one we wear on our hands today was made by French mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal. This is the same Blaise Pascal who is also considered the inventor of the calculator. Around 1650, people used to keep watches in their pockets, Blaise Pascal tied this watch to his palm with a rope so that he could see the watch while working.
